The SPEED World Challenge® is the premier road racing series in North America which features production derived sedans and coupes representing the world’s top car manufacturers. Two classes, GT and Touring, each compete in a one-hour long sprint format virtually eliminating the option of making a pit stop for fresh tires. Every imaginable brand of modified sport compact runs in the Touring class. High-horsepower machines such as Porsches, Dodge Vipers and Corvettes compete in the GT class. Both classes share one common denominator over the course of the race, their Toyo Proxes RA1™ tires. Toyo’s Proxes RA1 is a D.O.T.-legal competition tire is preferred by road race drivers from around the country. The RA1 is known for its winning performance and consistency, helping to alleviate expensive chassis setup adjustments during a race weekend. The RA1 fits a wide range of wheels from 13- to 18-inches in diameter. Tread widths range from 185 to 335mm, while aspect ratios include 30-, 35-, 40-, 45-, 50-, 55-, and 60-series. It features an 8/32nds unidirectional tread pattern that can be run with excellent results on wet tracks, or shaved to a 4/32nds depth for the ultimate in dry traction. Select sizes feature a steel wire reinforced sidewall to improve both stability and transient response for improved cornering performance. A two-ply rayon casing construction results in thermal stability at high speeds. 2007 is the 7th year that Toyo is the “Official Tire of SPEED World Challenge”.
